First and foremost is the HUGE amount of “E-Waste” we’re allowing to be dumped into our landfills, shipped overseas to be burned in open pits and polluting our drinking water and oceans. E-Waste is the largest, fastest growing, segment of ‘trash’ in our population. Plastics can take up to 1000 years to breakdown and even then plastic only breaks down into ever smaller bits down to microscopic fragments and base chemicals. These will NEVER go away. Some of the chemicals used to make cell phones, laptops and flat screen TV’s are extremely hazardous and have the potential to devastate our water supplies and oceans. Our throw away mentality must stop. Space Coast Trading saw a torrent of plastics from inkjets slip past recycling programs and end up in landfills. We wanted to do something. So we did.

We are proud to be a GREEN company. We reduce, reuse and recycle 98% of ALL our materials. We recycle everything from precious metals to our test print paper. All plastics are shredded and recycled. Batteries, empty tape gun rolls, plastic bags and cardboard all get reused or recycled. We have only one large trash bag a week for our whole company! We use CF lights in any fixture that stays on longer than 5 minutes. We have re-insulated all our properties. We’re going solar next year. Anything we can think of to reduce our carbon footprint, we do. This mentality has gone home with our staff to their families and friends. It has rubbed off on all our own families and friends. We must and can do more.

Another major factor we feel contributes to better products is, unlike larger inkjet cartridge remanufacturing companies, we DO NOT OUTSOURCE our remanufacturing to other, very low paying countries where skill takes a back seat to payroll!  All work and products come from companies in the U.S.A.  We hire our staff based on skill and not how much they cost.  This helps our economy while creating needed employment opportunities!  Space Coast Trading has total emersion on quality control issues giving us higher quality products than if we outsourced our work thousands of miles away.

That being said, here, briefly, is how we remanufacture our cartridges:

1. We hand inspect all the cartridges, including the electronics, when they arrive at our facility for remanufacturing.
2. The cartridges are then fully cleaned outside AND inside! Yes, our cartridges are even cleaned on the inside to eliminate the old dried ink that could clog the printing heads.
3. Then, we use sophisticated equipment that fills every tank in the cartridge simultaneously, in a vacuum (similar to outer space) to insure that no air is introduced into the interior chambers of the cartridge, until it is FULL; not half filled or what is called “starter cartridges” like many other remanufactures and OEM offer!
4. A final test of the cartridges is done to insure that each cartridge we sell is printing 100%!  Any cartridge that does not pass this test is sent back to the beginning of the process!
5. The cartridges are then professionally clipped, sealed and packaged to keep them fresh for the longest possible time keeping their quality when they arrive to our customers.  That’s right; cartridges that are not packaged properly will dry up, give streaky prints or won’t work at all!
6. This is the most important step: because of remanufacturing, we pass the savings to you, our customer, and help save resources by reducing the amount of E-Waste that ends up in our landfills!
